Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how MyFinancialFuture (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles personal information. We are committed to compliance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
1. What information we collect and why
Email address
Collected at sign-up and used only to send you a secure sign-in link (magic link via Resend). Your email is not used for marketing and is not shared with third parties for marketing purposes.
Plan inputs
Income amounts, expense budgets, rates, dates, and add-on configurations you enter in the Plan page. We do not require your real name, date of birth, address, Tax File Number, or bank account details. Plan data is stored in our Neon (PostgreSQL) database and encrypted at rest.
Demographic information (optional, with explicit consent)
If you choose to complete your Profile, we collect age bracket, gender, and relationship status. This information is entirely optional and is collected under a separate consent that you control. The purpose is to produce de-identified aggregate statistics — for example, the distribution of financial strategies used by different age groups. We may share such de-identified aggregate reports with third-party organisations (e.g. research institutions, industry bodies) under data-sharing arrangements.
Your individual profile data is never shared in a form that identifies you. You may withdraw consent or delete your demographic data at any time from your Profile settings.
Usage events
Anonymised page views and feature events (e.g. plan_created, export_completed) via PostHog. These events never include plan field values, financial amounts, or personal details.
Error reports
Stack traces and request context sent to Sentry for debugging. Plan content is scrubbed before submission.
2. Passwordless authentication
We use magic-link sign-in (email → secure time-limited link). We do not store passwords. We never store passwords. You are not the product.
3. AI Analyse
When you run AI Analyse, your plan is anonymised in your browser before leaving your device: labels are stripped, dates are converted to month offsets, and amounts are kept as integers. The anonymised summary is sent to Groq (USA) for inference. The full plan never leaves your browser. Groq's privacy policy applies to the anonymised data they process.
4. Lead enquiry relay
If you use a “Connect with an adviser” or similar lead form on this site, your first name, mobile number, email address, and optional message are relayed by email directly to the relevant provider. We do not store this information. It is an ephemeral relay only. The provider receives your details directly and is responsible for handling them in accordance with their own privacy policy.
5. Data retention and deletion
Accounts inactive for 30 days are automatically deleted, along with all associated plan data. You can also delete all local data at any time from Profile → Privacy → “Wipe all local data”.
To request manual deletion of your account and all server-stored data before the 30-day automatic deletion, email privacy@myfinancialfuture.com.au.
6. Overseas disclosure
We use third-party services that process data outside Australia (primarily in the USA). By using MyFinancialFuture, you consent to this transfer. These services are:
- Neon — database hosting, USA, SOC 2 Type II
- Netlify — web hosting, USA
- Groq — AI inference (anonymised plan only), USA
- Resend — magic link email delivery, USA
- Stripe — payment processing (Pro subscribers), USA, PCI DSS
- Sentry — error reporting (plan content scrubbed), USA
- PostHog — usage analytics (no financial data), USA/EU
7. Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 1988 you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of personal information we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@myfinancialfuture.com.au. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Complaints
If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, you may lodge a complaint with us first at the address above. If you are unsatisfied with our response you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
